What is DIEP Flap Breast Reconstruction?<\/h2>\n

Deep Inferior epigastric perforator (DIEP) flap breast reconstruction is a common procedure usually performed after a mastectomy. It uses the skin or fat from the lower abdomen to create a new breast. The area from which the fat and skin are removed can be different: the buttocks, inner thighs, or upper back.<\/p>\n

This is one of the complex procedures performed by plastic surgeons. Patients should be mentally prepared to get at least two or three sessions. The first stage involves the placement of an implant, and the second stage involves tissue reconstruction. The final session is usually done to reconstruct the nipples.<\/p>\n
